Solpadol and recent cholisystectomy

I have been prescribed Solpadol for severe pain in my back from a fall. I took two this evening and until later did not read the list of cautions.  I now find that Solpadol should not be taken after recent gall bladder surgery. My gall bladder was removed on January 24th.  In the last half hour I have had severe pain under my right rib and across to the left of my abdomen (under my left rib). What is causing this and am I in danger. I do not know what to do. Can someone please help me.

Thank you

jayjay

This got posted, and I'm glad to hear that you're doing better. Unfortunately, sometimes docs don't read all the information on your chart or completely think through the interactions of the meds on a person's body. Keep yourself well.

Hi calgal,

I wrote to you yesterday but the site was under repair or something like that so you probably did not get my message.  Either that or I am not sure how this thing works. It's the first forum I have been on.  Thank you for your comments.   The pain I was having receded after about two hours, thank goodness but I shall never take Solpadol or anything like it again. I'd rather have the pain. I do hope this note reaches you because I am not sure what to do if it doesn't. Perhaps someoneout out there can enlighten me on how these things work.

I decided not to go back to the doctor because  he keeps giving me things that interact with others.  He is a very good doctor but I am not sure GP's always read the small print on the medications they get from the pharmaceutical companies.  However, thanks again for your help.

Kind regards

jayjay

p.s: perhaps we will talk again soon.

I assume one of the things this drug does is to raise the pressure in the biliary system ducts, it it could cause pain and other possible problems. Your best course of action would be to call your doc and ask if you need to do anything about your having taken it, and also ask what you can safely take in it's place.
