Woke up again this morning with bad stomach ache, bloating and nausea. Already took my Xanax, Gas-x and more Pepto Bismol. My whole digestive tract is a mess. Why do I wake up this way???
Called the on call doc yesterday. He said try the Pepto Bismol. Woke up this morning worse. Holiday and my doctor is in surgery and only one doctor I half a day. Waiting fir a call. Nothing they have done has helped
Thank you for the reply. I have had many scopes and tests done. I was on Nexium for a while but had problems with it. This doctor put me on Omeprazole and not doing well on that either. Breath test showed bacterial overgrowth in small intestine. Was treated with 10 days of Xifaxan, felt somewhat better but not much. I started trying Align probiotic a couple of days ago and was very sick and bloated the next day so skipped that day. Took another one yesterday and am back today waking up nauseated. Took an Omeprazole then 1 low dose Xanax, which I have been on for years. Was feeling worse, took a Gas-X (125 mg Simethicone). Then tried to eat some oatmeal. Now, I am very bloated, nauseated and have some stomach pain, drier mouth and throat and thick phlgym. I feel nauseated in my throat, if that makes sense. I am afraid the bacterial problem isn't cleared up or is this the probiotic causing this? I have also been having problems with a very burning pain on the right side of my back, which I think is from a nerve.
Aside from the chronic mouth and thriat problems, my stomach and bowels are the major problems.
Now I wonder if I can take Pepto Bismol for the nausea.
Hello,
The sensation of lump in the throat is called globus hystericus. Globus hystericus is a subjective sensation where people feel a lump in the throat. At times, it is associated with difficulties swallowing. They are probably related to psychological problems. The most common cause is gastro esophageal reflux disease - GERD.
Diagnosis is by fibroptic laryngoscopy. Fiberoptic laryngoscopy also helps confirm the GERD diagnosis. The other possibility which should be ruled out is post nasal discharge.
GERD is treated by antacids, bland diet, small evening meals and elevation of the head of the bed.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
