Bruce, did you ever find out what was causing this dizzy, nausea, anxiety, thing after your first meal of the day? I have been having the same thing everyday for two months now and I am desperate for answers. I also feel the need to just sleep it off! I have checked my Blood pressure when it happens and it is low which I know can cause it but why only the first meal of the day? and Why does it last three to four hours, then I'm okay for other meals? I am Hypothyroid and my numbers were a bit Hyper when I got my lab work two weeks ago: TSH - 0.37, T3 - 22, T4 - 4.5, Free T4 - 1.4 and I was recently diagnosed with a heart condition called Diastolic Dysfunction where my heart doesn't relax between beats. My cardiologist doesn't seem to think it's related.
Could this possibly be veritgo caused by something your eating?
Hi Bruce,
I sometimes can be found wandering over here on GI ....
Have you been to an allergist? Could you be severely allergic to something and on an empty stomach it reacts worse than during the day when, perhaps, not all of it is absorbed????
Just an off-the-wall thought
Has your BP been checked at this time when you have your symptoms?
Anaphylaxis can be a drop in BP with GI issues alone .. it can be mild. Not to scare you and this probably isn't it .. but may be worth a look/see
Do you eat anything different in the AM than any other time of the day ??
Do PM me if you reply --- I'm not online as often as I'd like to be but happy to stop back to read your reply and help out if I can.
You've gotten great advice above, too. My 17yr old had her GB removed and has improved dramatically since 3yrs ago when it had to come out after yrs of no answers to her issues.

Kevin what are you doin over here? Go back to the thyroid board!
be careful you don't want to end up in rehab with Lindsey Lohan. Bruce!
It sure doesn't sound pancreatic. It would be rare to have a pancreatic problem where the problems only happen when you eat.
No, I won't do that. I only take it as a last resort. Could it be pancreatic?.
Okay, if this causes anxiety then you take the xanax to treat the anxiety then that is fine. What you shouldn't do is use the xanax to make you fall asleep so you can sleep off the problems when you are not having anxiety.
I have the anxiety. When this attack comes on, the anxiety becomes very bad. the xanex was prescribed to help with this. trust me, i hate taking anything. even aspirin.

A gastric emptying scan sees how quickly your stomach empties. This can diagnose gastorparesis (slow emptying of the stomach). The usual symptoms of this would be nausea or vomiting after eating. Another thing it might be is that after you eat, a lot of your blood is going to your stomach which is causing low blood pressure which is causing your dizzyness. You might want to try checking your blood pressure before and after you eat.
Do you think you have anxiety? Were you diagnosed by a doctor with anxiety? Using the xanax other than how it was prescribed is mis-using your medication and this is not good.
I just read the thing on the gastric emptying scan. The hard part is that everyone thinks I am nuts... I xanex when it gets really bad. Not sure what else to do... Have you heard of this?
No, what is that? I'm over on the thyroid board looking for answers but need to be here.
Welcome to the gastroenterology community! You should not take xanax for this problem unless then problem is a manifestation of your anxiety. Have you had a gastric emptying scan?
