How to stop diarrhea and soft stool for 3 weeks?

I had diarrhea and soft stool for 3 weeks, the first week I had a little fever. this is how I stopped it and got back to normal. First let me say I'm 70 years old. I'm not sure how I got it but I think it could be one or more of the following. #1  I don't eat sugar and started putting lots of raw Honey in my coffee. #2  I ate at a mexican restaurant that wasn't so clean. #3  I ate frozen tamales at home that looked like they were refrozen! #4 My wife caught a stomach virus but it only lasted 3 days!
After the first week. I got off coffee and  I got on the BRAT diet. added fennel tea, apple cider vinegar, poweraid zero, saltine crackers not salted tops.campbells chicken with rice soup, schiff digestive advantage, equate daily fiber sugar free that I put in the zero aid, boiled red potatoes,   and boiled eggs. I got everything from wal-mart but the fennel tea and the apple cider vinegar. It took two week to get back to normal with stool gettin a little better each day. I hope this helps someone!

If you read the first line you will see it is back to normal. Week one was water, week two was like soft serve icecream. Week three better and better until it got back to normal a few days before the week ended! No dehydration at all. I drank lots of water and as I said Zero aid. Raw honey can do that and also yeast from a sudden large intake of sugar. Also bad food intake. etc. Now I'm taking something for parasites to make sure. My post was a how to and not asking how to! But thanks for your response!

Three weeks of loose stools, it might be time to see your doctor.  Are you losing weight?  The only time I had three weeks of loose stools was when our family (all of us but my baby at the time) had gotten a parasite from a farm water tank.  Agree that dietary changes are the first step.  But if it isn't getting better, see your doctor. Yes, could be a virus but that typically would have run its course.  But it could also be an infection.   Brat diet is good, clear liquids like broth is good, no caffeinated beverages, processed food, oh my, STAY AWAY from cabbage.  But you should see a doctor.  Dehydration is an concern.  good luck
