Postoperative gallbladder pain

I had emergency gallbladder surgery in April 2007 after my gangrene gallbladder ruptured.  Following the surgery, (now a year-and-a-half later)  I still have constant, daily pain in the same area, at times pretty severe.  I went to my PCP, he took an x-ray and the area where the gall bladder was had so many internal staples, it looked like a honeycomb.  I also have a lump on my side in that area that hurts.  My PCP said he would send me to a specialist, but have you known of internal stapling causing problems like this?  I can't stand to think of having this kind of pain indefinitely.

You may also want to discuss the possibility of the formation of stones or the possibility of problems with spasms in the common bile duct or sphincter (of Oddi) with your doc. consider asking for both a full liver and pancreatic enzyme panel and MRCP with your doc.

You may also want to consider trying to see if a low fat diet is of help.
