Prednisone and bloating

I've been on Prednisone for about two years now for Sarcoidosis. They started me on 40mg and the pain and bloating was extreme. They dropped me to 30 two weeks later and then I was on 20 for a year.  Now I am on 10 every other day plus methotrexate once a week.

Is it common to get/still have extreme bloating?  After meals I bloat out to looking as if I were  4-8 months pregnant. My physician is surprised by this and the only help he offered was to prescribe 2 folic acid tablets daily instead of 1.

I'm buying maternity clothes - there is no other choice what with the daily rapid onset change in my belly dimensions.

Any ideas to help mitigate these symptoms?
