Small Intestinal infarction. Aunt in hospital dying. Anything we can do?

My Aunt is in Hospitl. For six months she has been ill and having difficulties eating and with diarrhea. Eventually she can't keep anything down. Vomiting everything.
She goes in to hospital and when they finally open her up they say the Small Intestine is so damaged there is nothing that can be done. They tell us she has a few hours to live. It is now 24 hours + later and she is gaining lucidity from the anesthetic wearing off and now she is not on any additional medication and it is wearing off. She is left in a room waiting to die.
Is there anything that can be done in instances where the small intestine is do damaged that the doctor's judge they can't do an ileostomy?
