i also have the sulphur burps need more info ?

I see that alot of you have asked about sulphur burps, i get them now and again, but my doctor cant tell me what is wrong. i asked him if it could be guardia.he said no. so what is causing it ? mine are so bad, my husband will be sitting about 8ft away from me and still be able to smell them. i am so embarrassed.
is it due to medicine maybe? as i take alot of different ones. i also have a hiatal hernia, is that causing it ? i am getting it because of things i eat ? will i have it for the rest of my life ? my husband hates it, and i dont blame him one bit about that. i do take alot of different meds, and maybe they are causing it. but my doctor laughed at me when i said it could be guardia.i have an appt at the doctors on monday, and i would like to get some advice so that i can ask her that then.i have the hernia, acid reflux and ulcers in my stomach. but i have had them along time, so i dont think that is what is causing my problems. but i am totally embarrasment. i am sure alot of you feel like i do, you cant go out when you have this going on, cos you dont want to upset any one. i didnt think my husband could smell them, but he can.

I am an ER nurse and have battled the problem for quite a few years. I have been taking Aciphex for GERD. After multiple test by GI we tried Align (probiotic) OTC. Prior to the probiotic I was having an episode every 2-3 weeks. It has been 4 months since the last episode

I too have suffered from these episodes for years. Have not been able to pin it down to a specific food/combo of food yet. I also have Chron's, diabetes, fatty liver, moderate/severe GERD. I also do not have my gall bladder anymore either. One thing that did help me temporarily (close to a year) was an ERCP. Basically, the spincter (of Odi) that opens and shuts to allow the gall to release all it's stuff gets stiff and they put in a plastic stint for a week and then take it back out. This was after my gall bladder and I was still having the gall bladder attacks (severe chest pain and then one of the sulphur episodes.)
My current gastro thinks that I maybe getting intermittently 'stopped up' and the burps and pain are actually poo not passing. I do not believe this theory as anyone who has these can attest to not being hampered in any way by pooping. I went 2 weeks ago to the ER during a really really bad episode and they did xrays (no time for anything better) and it did not show any blockage. Of course that was just an xray and it was after having been there for several several hours so if it was truly a blockage, it may have righted itself by that time.
All the scar tissue from various surgeries means my stomache always hurts but if these episodes would stop, I would be in so much better shape. My current gastro has basically given up and just tells me to keep taking percocets until one day my whole system shuts down, which is likely a couple of years away. All the other consults I have been sent to have either went some other way (that we've already tried) or ignore anything I have to say and want to run yet even more expensive tests.

If you are having bloating and occasional diarrhea, you have giardia.  Sulfur/rotten egg burps are a clear indication of that.  Give a stool sample.  Sometimes it is not caught by a stool sample because of the life cycle of the parasite.  You may want to give a few.  If nothing is caught, I would still take Tinidazole.  Good luck!
