I told my doctor about the blood in my stool as well as the clay color. They want to test me for celiac disease as well as lactose intolerance. I don't drink milk and eat gluten on a regular basis but these flare ups happen whenever, last for up to a few days and then stop. I am starting to think that my doctor is throwing things out there and guessing instead of looking at everything. It is getting frustrating.
They tested for H. pylori but never gave me the results, just put me on the meds. I haven't received any of the results from the other tests that were taken either.
Also get checked for Giardia!
Make sure your doc tests you for the presence of H. pylori. That can often be found in those with gastritis and it can cause the 'sulphur' taste. If H. pylori is absent and you still have the sulphur burping, it can be related to the gastritis itself or to possible issues with your gallbladder. The only way to get rid of it unfortunately would be to bring the gastritis or any gallbladder issues under control. Changing to a GERD-friendly diet can help the problem in some.
Did you discuss the blood in your stool with your doc? Blood isn't a typical finding with upper GI issues, and if it's present it should be investigated.
I was put on Omeprazole 20 mg twice daily
