Tightness of Troat/ Esophagus

Hello,

Ever since I can remember I have been experiencing issues with swallowing. For instance, if I am eating a piece of bread it would get stuck causing shortness of breath leading into a sharp hiccup (sp?). It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it is very painful. I once experienced having very sharp heart burn in the middle of the day that made me feel nauseous and ended up regurgitating food I had consumed more than a day and half ago.

As a vocalist I am concerned about my voice and was wondering what measures I need to take to make sure that I am not experiencing anything more than plain heartburn.

Sincerely,
"Josh"

Please consider talking with your doctor about the burning and the vomiting that brings up long undigested food. Food should pass out of the stomach and on into the rest of the GI tract within an hour or so of eating. If you're retaining food in your stomach, you could be experiencing delayed gastric emptying or other gastric issues and may need to have some testing done to find the cause of the problem.
