Too many ibuprofen?

I just came from my dentist and he suggested I take 3 ibuprofen 4 times a day for 3 days to see if it would calm the nerve of a tooth.  If it does not, then he suggests a root canal. My main concern is I'm afraid of the stomach problems this might cause.  Do I have need to worry?  I also take omeprazole to calm my stomach, so am I defeating the purpose?    Thank you for your time.

Thank you for your replay.   I'm bad, I should have mentioned the mg's. It's 200  mg's. He wants me to take them for 3 days to see if it calms the nerve of the tooth....thinking it might be inflammation or if the nerve is irritated at me..lol.
But I don't want my stomach irritated  AND my tooth irritatied if that will happen by taking that many.  So I don't know if I should go ahead and give this a try or just get a root canal.  Thanks

Hi that's a lot of ibuprofen it depends on how many mg it is , it can upset your stomach that's why i don't take them , the worse it can do is make you go on the toilet , Just check the dosage of them if it's 500mg each i would just take them when you need to , hope this helps , Take care ,
