Unknown Problem

I have a 17 year old son for 10 months has been feeling sharp and burning chest pain. In the last 3 months he's been feeling like food is getting stuck in his throat and acid coming up.He recently underwent an endoscopy an was told he has minor damages to the esophagus. Furthermore, He has been recently feeling the sensation or feeling food stuck in his throat ( I'm not sure which one) more often. Is this common? He has been taking lanasaprazole for 3 and 1/2 months.
Any suggestions would be appreciated,
Charles

Thank you for your suggestions I will take it into consideration. Right now my son has seen an allergist and is taking Fluticasone( which is like nasonex) for 30 days. His symptoms are lately coming more often not sure if it's because it's a bad week or maybe the weather or allergies outside is making it worse.
Thanks Again If you think of anything else please let me know,
Charles

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hey Charles!

The ‘feeling of food stuck’ in the throat is called globus in medical terms. The indicates that one of the muscles along the way is tightened and commonly occurs in association with URT inflammation and GERD. Other possible causes include UGI/ URT infections, masses and tumors and incoordinated contraction in the upper oesophagus, psychological stress etc. If the feeling continues beyond 4-5 weeks of treatment, one may consider a detailed evaluation by an internist to rule out other possibilities and for appropriate management.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
