What would be causing my daughter's digestive problems?

My Daughter is 17 years of age. Within the past 2 month, she has been eating terribly.  Eating alot of fatty foods, sugar etc. She already has a weigh issue, and since then gained 10lbs. After eating at a Mexican Restaurant, she came home and vomited and had diaharrea. Since then I have noticed her using alot of pepto bismal, and the digestive problems are still occurring. She did have her check up with her Pediatrician that told her to make the right choices with food. But, I really think it is more than that. She had pasta with a Vodka Sauce, and threw up twice, and had the runs again. She is even saying her stools are black.
I am going to take her to a Gastroenteriologist tomorrow, and have some blood work done for her to determine what is going on with her.
What is your opinion on this?

Thanks,
Gina M. Tegtmeier

Hey there, your daughter maybe could have gall stones? I had similar symptoms for 5 years I thought they were related to having children etc, but after finally having enough I sought doctors help, they discovered I had gallstones.
I let it go on for so long as I thought I had food intolerances!!

I would get her in right away and have her checked out. Digestive problems are so hard to manage once they become serious. She is young and that will be in her favor. I would not let her continue that way.

Hello. I am a teenager with digestive problems myself and have to use several medicines to keep them tolerable, Pepto-Bismol among them. I don't know what might be wrong with her, but I am sure a gastroenterologist can easily treat her. I just want to say that Pepto-Bismol is most likely causing her black stools. Black stools from Pepto-Bismol are nothing serious. If she stopped taking it for a few days her stool color will probably go back to normal.
