abdominal pain and black colored stool

I am having abdominal pain and black colored stool and has gastro problems. I just recovered form a hepatitis A infection .As I was worried about my abdominal problem I consulted a gastro specialist and was asked for some blood test(routine test and LFT).From the results everything is normal(except SGPT which is slightly higher) and had to undergo Ultra Sound Scan and results are normal.But Still I have the black stool and abdominal pain some times. The medicines that I am having are for hepatitis and gastro .

and if you wanna insure that u don't have an active ulcer of any type of bleeding in digestive system , I advice ya to make this test : "Occult Blood in Stool"

and if it's negative, it will be as Mr. mklarson say.

I think I might be able to tell you why you have a black stool.  If you are taking any stomach product for your gastro problems containing: Bismuth subsalicylate, this is found in the pink liquid product called Pepto Bismo or Kaopectate, and a few others so check the label.

The Bismuth and give a low level allergic reaction that shows up as a black stool and/or a black tongue and mouth.  The good news is that it goes away 3-5 days after you stop uses those products.  

We use to have patients come in thinking they had the plague or some bizarre tropical disease only to find out it was "the Pink Stuff", it was funny once everyone settled down.

Let's hope that this is the cause as it is a simple fix with no harm done!
