I know it's been a long time since you replied to my question but I have a follow up question. So soon after u replied I saw a gastro named Dr. Rosen who pretty much dismissed me as mental. I explained my systems and sent to do stool samples. Everything returned negative for blood in my stool and for bacteria over growth so I accepted that it was something made up and continue to suffer. It go so bad that I actually quit my job. About two months later I found a new job and the symptoms continued so I decided to see a new grastro who requested my stool sample report that I previously had. Well, he never ordered a parasite study but rather it was for blood in stool and malabsorption. I was pissed off so I took another stool sample test and they found dientamoeba fragilis. I was given fraygl for 10/days and I felt a lot better. My stool didn't stink as bad and I was returning to normal bowel moments but about two weeks later the symptoms returned slowly and now back what is was and I'm frustrated. Could it be that it didn't killed them all. What should I do? Should I request another stool sample study to see if it returned? I would appreciate it if you could reply. Thank you
Hi, low grade gastrointestinal infections can cause the symptoms described by you. Have a stool culture done, if the stool culture showed a growth it is an infective pathology otherwise non infective pathologies like inflammatory bowel diseases or growths have to be considered. Other common causes are fungal infections and indigestion. Amoebiasis is another infection, which can cause similar symptoms. Treatment for uncomplicated cases of amebiasis generally consists of a ten-day course of metronidazole given by mouth. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
