Peppermint will weaken your LES, the lid on your stomach that keeps the acid in. If you had a bunch of peppermint on an empty stomach you're bound to get some heartburn, especially if you smoke. (Even if you quit just a few days ago, the effects of smoking on your LES and UES (lower and upper esophageal sphincters) will still be present. That is, they will both be weakened still.)
Basically you ate a bunch of stuff that is known to cause heartburn and you got heartburn. You also used to have a habit that is known to dull (burn) the nerves, cause damage to your throat, and cause heartburn, and now that your throat is healing, you feel the heartburn. The acid went all the way up to your tongue and caused all the thick mucus, raw feeling surfaces. This may indicate a condition known as LPRD (related to GERD).
Recommendation: stop eating peppermints. In fact, try following a GERD diet now that you've stopped smoking. Your body will need time to heal. As far as cancer is concerned, that's always something to pay attention to, so I'd go see a doctor about that. If this feeling continues, request an EGD just to make sure things there are OK.
Good luck.
any other opinions from any1 else? not trying to rude but i want a full spectrum of answers :)
I think the mucus and sores are just from not smoking and allergies are bad now too.
So that might be part of it.
Since you havent gone to the bathroom tho since the candies,
that lax. I just told u about might help some today, ya know?
the problems developed practically over night, never had a strange cough or soar throat. but for a day and a 1/2 i have had the urge to cough, i have a soar throat, my mouth is a little dry and i have 1 or 2 smalls soars on my tongue. This is not also not eating anything for a day after those 20 peppermint candies. just curious if i should be worried or not. i also feel the need to swallow spit or mucus from my nose but nothing comes. but other wise i have had no other swallowing problems.
Not sure, but I got that when I quit smoking here, so I think you are ok with that for now.
You should try those tho., your stomach will feel a lot better after that, you know?
well tbh im more concerned about my mouth cuz im fine when it comes to using the bathroom. was just a little concerned that i may have tongue mouth or throat cancer.
cool, nice to meet you as well.
Do you want to try taking this today you mean?
matt here 35, not sure about you, how old are you?
These help a lot, they are called Fleet glycerin suppositories.
Let me know if you are still here now tho ok.

that might help, do you want the name of something to try I guess?
no not yet its only been going on for 2 days, also is it normal to get soars on your tongue from being stressed or not eating or puking?
Have you tried taking anything for that to see if that helps yet?
I have found the same thing here. Are you constipated now you think?
yea hard to eat and i feel full.
When I quick smoking it messed up my digestive system some here. It might even be making you feel full. Is that how you feeling?
