This acid reflux disease cannot be cured but can be managed with medications and lifestyle changes. In severe cases, surgery is considered. Surgery does not cure the underlying cause of GERD, but wraps part of the stomach around the lower end of the esophagus to help keep acid from getting back up into the esophagus.

When treating GERD, physicians are trying to achieve the following goals:

Manage GERD symptoms
Heal the lining of the esophagus in patients who have been diagnosed with erosive esophagitis
Prevent more damage to the esophagus
To achieve these goals, your doctor may recommend an over-the- counter or prescription medicine. Only your doctor can decide which treatments are right for you.
There are four common treatment options for GERD. They each work in a unique way within the body:
Antacids neutralize stomach acid
Mucosal protective agents protect the lining of the esophagus
Promotility agents cause the stomach to empty faster
Acid-suppressive agents reduce the amount of acid the stomach makes

probably not an ulcer, id go with  GERD or a Hiatal Hernia first, a peptic ulcer or deudenous ulcer would present with more pain and there would probably be blood in your vomit and stool, id go to the doc to get it checked out, id start taking Prilosec OTC for two weeks to see if its just reccuring GERD, i mean the symptoms you described sounds exactly like GERD
