hernia under right rib cage

I am a female senior. Is it possible that I could have a hernia under my right ribs (just below my breast)?
At times (though seldom), I experience a horrible pain while "something" is popping out under my right ribs.
As long as I lie down quietly, I can feel how the "something" is slowly going back to the original (normal)
position.  I have noticed that this mostly happens when I sit in bed, trying to bend forward.  Thx for your help.

I had hernia repair surgery last year.  After 1 year, the site is still painful and I have new hernias that have appeared in different locations...still on the right side above and beside the original hernias.  I did not have mesh inserted, just got stitched up.  Is the mesh more effective?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
In few individuals because of progressive physical activity, or injury of individual muscle segment they may go into Spasm. This is most frequent at the most upper segment which is just below the rib cage. When one of these segments goes into spasm, it creates a temporary painful bulge in the area as the muscle contracts. Rest and massaging the area relieves the spasm and the pain. Hernias in the upper abdomen, below the rib cage, are extremely uncommon unless you have a prior incision in that area which can cause an incisional hernia. A clinical examination is necessary for correct diagnosis and treatment. I hope it helps.
Best wishes and regards!
