i need to know what's wrong

if it's okay, i'm reposting my post in the IBS forum here. i just need some sort of idea from someone.

----

i've always had stomach issues, ever since i was young, so i really don't know what a normal stomach should be like. =p however i've had these bouts of EXTREMELY severe nausea/vomiting, sometimes green or yellow and EXTREMELY bitter, bloating, completely liquid diarrhea, and foul-smelling/tasting burps that linger. (ugh, this is gross)
i'll have them like a few days apart for several weeks/months, then they'll go away for a while, only to come back again. i don't think it has anything to do with my diet. well, i'm lactose intolerant but i know what those symptoms are, and a friend suggested celiac since i'm vegetarian and use alot of wheat gluten, but i thought one of the components of celiac was weight loss, and i'm not experiencing that (other than during the time when i'm sick and  i lose weight because i stop eating to give my stomach a break).
i was thinking it might be my gall bladder since i asked my mom what bile was like and what she described (she's in the medical profession) sounded like the gross bitter stuff that sometimes comes along with puking. would there always be abdominal pain with a gall bladder attack or no? i have had a sore feeling in my side but it never coincides with one of these "attacks."

these things started happening about a year ago. i'm currently in the middle of one now (they never used to last two days, they would just completely obliterate one day and then go away, but this one has been going on since yesterday. what i imagine is a "cycle" of them started late november, so i figure i have maybe three more weeks of it?)

OH and another symptom that comes on with the really strong attacks is light sensitivity. lights become extremely bright and i feel blind and someitmes they even make it worse. it's not accompanied by a migraine (i'm familiar with those, too). also, a feeling of  extreme dehydration, no matter how much i drink generally comes BEFORE the "attack cycle" starts up. i've been putting on so much lotion it's kind of insane because my skin and eyes and everything feels really dry, particularly immediately before my stomach has a fit. i'm wondering if that has something to do with it since the diarrhea is almost entirely liquid.

this is so gross! =p

anyway, i was hoping someone could give me some ideas, i'm so tired of dealing with this. especially since it's the end of the semester and i need all my energy, and i just feel like sleeping all the time, which isn't good. and it ***** to be around people because the burps are so gross-smelling and they just stay in the air like this noxious cloud =p it's embarassing! someday when i'm a millionaire, i can go to the doctor. =p or maybe i should move to europe.

It could very well be the wheat causing your digestive problems, but your symptom of light sensitivity makes me wonder if you're suffering from adrenal fatigue as well.

My son has a pituitary tumor\cyst, causing secondary adrenal insufficiency, among other symptoms of pituitary hormone loss.  He was diagnosed after three years of digestive trouble that included nausea, bloating, constipation and diarrhea. His first symptoms were extreme light sensitivity, abdominal pain, and dry skin. He was eight years old.

We were vegetarian also, consuming a lot of wheat and soy. I had my son tested for food allergies, and it was positive for soy, but not wheat. He had soy formula as a baby and toddler too, and I believe all the soy destroyed his endocrine system.

You should consider specific testing for celiac, and also IgG antibody tests, or saliva testing, for other unknown allergies.

In the meantime, my son was helped a LOT by taking digestive enzymes, specifically Peptizyde and Zyme Prime, from Houston Nutraceuticals, to aid digestion and help heal his intestinal tract.  Peptizyde has a specific enzyme, DPP-IV, which breaks down the peptides and proteins from wheat gluten and dairy casein, the little devils that cause so many people so much trouble.

From what you've been going through, I would guess that your intestinal tract is deficient in DPP-IV anyway. I highly recommend you take an appropriate digestive enzyme blend with everything you eat (and don't ever touch soy). By that I mean take proteases with protein foods, lipase with fats, amylases with carbohydrates, etc. This can work miracles with a huge number of health problems.

Also, Slippery Elm powder is very soothing and healing to the digestive tract, from the throat all the way to ... well, you know. I drink it added to herb tea, when I feel the need. (Unfortunately, my son never would).

My son's light sensitivity problem is slowly getting better. The hydrocortisone he has to take for adrenal insufficiency seems to help with this. I think his nutritional deficiencies, caused by gut damage, contributed to the eye problems too.

Hope you feel better soon.

It may have something to do with your diet, iff you are celiac. Every person is different, but I would start there.  I ve come up with quite a bit of these symptoms, and after many tests, I was diagnosed with gastroparesis, your food move so slow during digestion, that it can furment. causilng some of these symptoms. I wish you luck, Its a heck of a life. Mary
