if anyone knows the answer???

Have  posted already but no answer so hopefully someone might know, does rectal nsaid cause bleeding, had bright red blood on toilet paper and then dark stringy blood in stool the following day. No further bleeding except mucus for a day after, sorry gross information. have lower back pain a few weeks and was taking medication for same, couldnt tolerate oral nsaid so used 2 suppositorys on 2 consecutive days. Bottom doesnt feel sore so i dont know whats going on. Seeing doc tommorrow but would like some reassurance, have had awful diet for years and never had any type of screening for colon cancer am 33 years old, dont have regular bowel motions for a long time and get diarrhoea if i eat two much fruit, thanks for your time,

thank you for your reply judith, i m a RN as well, in paeds so we dont have much gastroentorology stuff to deal with. Doc has booked an URGENT colonoscopy which is great but also the urgency in her booking it is scaring me. Especially this lower back pain thats been going on for a while,and the fact i have low iron stores, FE is only 20 although my haemoglobin is normal and so is my iron stores. Anyways thanks for your post, appreciated!!

Do you have hemrrhoids? Darker blood is older blood so its been there for awhile. Yes, nsaid suppositories can cause bleeding but only if they have been used on a regular basis. One time will usually not cause bleeding. Do you have constipation/diarrhea? That would be irritable bowel, but it sounds more like ulcerative colitis.Hang in there-things will be ok.
