liver lesions

I have been diagnosed with a liver lesion and have subsequently had 4 MRI's in the past year to track it.  Doctor said all blood tests came back ok and now am in the process of going to see a specialist about a biopsy.  I have chronic upper right quadrant pain and nothing relieves it or makes it worse, for that matter.  How concerned should i be regarding cancer?

both of you, please keep me posted. Jfloyd, I have the same pain in my right quadrant for many months now. Burning sensation at times; other times dull pain, and the pain moves around, is not in the same place all the time. I have had ct scan done, abdominal ultrasound, pelvic ultrasound (which revealed a hemorraghic cyst on the right ovary). Everything normal with the exception that I have cysts in the liver. My primary physician, my internist and my gastroenterologist tell me not to worry; it is uncommon, but some people get it (that's what they say, which to be honest, does not satifsy me). I am going for an endoscopy on Feb. 6th. Good luck to both of you, and please keep me posted on your results.

When is your appointment?  Mine is at Jefferson on 2/14.  The pain doesn't stop me from doing things except eat, because shortly after the pain comes bouts with nausea.  but i still function everyday with husband, full time job and 3 kids....so, it can be quite frustrating!

Hi - I guess I'm lucky - I have no pain.  Mine were discovered incidentally during a CT scan for a kidney stone.  I am also healthy - that's why I was so shocked and scared when they said they couldn't rule out metastatic disease.  I kind of freaked out a little bit.  I just want to put this all behind me, whether that means having surgery or not.  I hope you get all the answers you need and they can help you with your pain.  I'll let you know how my visit to U of PA Hospital turns out!  Take Care.

It certainly eases my mind that someone else is going through the same thing.  Do you have any pain?  My problem is that they don't know if the pain is caused by the lesions or the fact that my gallbladder function is only at 11%.  Who knows, but it's certainly frustrating and scary.  I've always been relatively healthy, except for these issues and esophageal ulcers.  I am going for an upper endoscopy the day before i see the liver specialist, so maybe the pain is coming from something in my stomach??  I'm certainly fed up.

Hi!  I too was diagnosed with liver lesions about a year ago- I have two, 2.9 cm and 4.3 cm.  I have had a ct scan, 4 ultrasounds, and an MRI.  I just went to my GP and he said not to worry, if they were metastatic disease they would have grown or even killed me by now.  My liver enzymes are also normal.  I have made a decision, for my own peace of mind, to go see a liver specialist at the University of PA in Philadelphia.  I just can't take, "They're most likely benign" one more time!  I'm sure if they can't tell by the MRI exactly what they are, they will order a biopsy as well.  I know what it's like to live in fear for a year wondering just what's in your body!  I think going to a specialist is the right move!  Keep me posted.
