My daughter who is 29 has the same problem too. She has 4 kids and is very busy from 5am until she falls into bed at like 9:30. She eats but not really enough and what I noticed was her bad habit of not drinking enough of anything. So I told her she had to pay attention and drink more fluids. She would pour her coffee in the morning and have a cig and then after that it was time to get busy. She may not drink anything else until supper and not finish that cause there was more to do. So once she started adding more liquids, she would drink her coffee, then water and diet Pepsi and more water, she was able to go. And I told her its not healthy for your body to be dehydrated. It can cause many problems besides constipation.
So check your fluid intake along with keeping the fiber in your diet. If the problem is causing discomfort now take a stool softener before bed for a couple of nights until your system gets regulated. As long as your not suffering stomach pain you could take a womans laxative like (brand name) Correctol. It's in a pink box. It's a very gentle laxative that you take before bed with 8oz. of water. When you wake up and start moving around you will feel the need to go, There is usually no cramping or stomach pain.
Was there any thing you can think of that could have caused the change a few months back? Like eating habits, new or different birth control pill, shift change at work. Keep in touch and let me know if this is helpful. Hope you feel better. elaine
