H. Pylori is about the most horrible thing i have ever faught in my life. I'm 22 and struggled twice with the meds. I am not a doctor, and i dont know how bad his infection is, so i'm not sure how much medication they will put him on, i know it varries with age. The medication i was on made me so sick i lost 25 pounds in 10 days. Side affects were severe nausea, verdigo/dizziness, migranes, severe constipation, cheast pain, gas pain in all areas of the stomach, dry mouth.
H.P burrows in the lining of the stomach and releases a gas that protects it from stomach acid and your immune system. Thats why they usually have to put you on very strong antibiotics. There's a lot of info on the web, but there isnt any one straight answer as to why some peole that are infected never develope ulcers and how you get it.
I struggled with antibiotics, and finally killed it with a 30 day tea thaught i found online, and i have a friend that drinks pure aloe vera gel(or you can take capsuls) you can buy from a health food store, for her ulcers in the colon.
if you have any more questions let me know, i can get you the web address for herbal treatments if you are interested, or if the medication doesnt work.

H. pylori can be cleared up typically with a round of a couple of antibiotics and some acid suppression meds. It can and does occur in people at times.
