I'm glad your electrolytes and iron are okay despite this ordeal- that is truly a blessing. I hope you've been able to get your B 12 tested by now?
When I was having trouble keeping anything in me and lost a bunch of weight, my potassium kept going low...a cousin sent me something called Kona Gold and told me to open the capsules and put the contents under my tongue because of my "leaky gut". I was so depleted on things and I believe God used the contents of the capsules to help me. The second dose I took, I suddenly seemed to have more energy than I'd had in a long time. May God grant you answers and the relief you seek soon!
my electrolytes and iron seem to be good. i need to get my b12 tested again cuz its been a few months and i have been getting severe tingling all over my body. my memory is going and i seem to be in this bubble of fuzziness and confusion. and even when i try to take something for the pain that just makes my stomach worse so im stuck suffering
I'm glad they are not going to have you swallow the barium, but have chose a camera instead. I know what it's like for it to be hard to walk and super weak from lack of nutrition. Are your electrolytes out of balance? I hope you get the help you need very soon.
My doc said since i cant swallow the barium they are going to let me swallow a camera pill so that they may look in my small intsetines. The just ordered more bloodwork and stool/urine samples so hopefully this will show something because i am so out of it i can hardly walk and am super weak. my brain is no longer functioning properly.
A trial of an NG tube can always be done, and if it doesn't work, it can be removed.
I agree TPN is a last resort. I wonder if a doctor would want to do an NG tube, however, given the description of the stomach filling up with trapped air? They are getting ready, it sounds like with this next step, to evaluate the small intestine's function.
Welcome to the gastroenterology community! It sounds like you need more testing to figure out what is wrong. I would recommend you get a gastric emptying scan. I would highly highly recommend against starting TPN. This can be very dangerous and it should only be used as a last resort. I can give you much more information about this if you would like. You might need a feeding tube, like an NG or NJ tube, but this should be tried before TPN.
It would show how long it is taking for barium to travel through. The endoscopy, while they can look while you are fasting will not show how a substance introduced from outside the body travels through. Have they started or suggested the idea of TPN (total parenteral nutrition) since you are unable to eat and losing weight? See private message for more info.
