If your pain is waking you up, it is definitely time to see a doctor.
If it isn't gallstones, you might ask your doctor about a HIDA Scan. It will see how well your GB is functioning. I had a low functioning gallbladder. The symptoms mimic a gallstone attack but all the standard tests were normal. The HIDA Scan showed my ejection fraction was 15%, normal is above 35%.

If the pain is waking you up you should probably see your GP.
Is this at all affected by diet? Particularly fatty foods? Is it a sharp stabbing pain or a throbbing one? How long has this been going on?
Your doc may recommend basic bloodwork and a quick ultrasound to image your kidneys, liver and gallbladder which can cause those sorts of symptoms - eg. gallstones, kidney stones etc. which seem to be problems that are easily remedied. That's not to say that these are the cause - again, you should probably chat with your GP about this to help resolve it.
