side effect of drugs for wilson's disease

I am a wilson's patient.i am under the administration of d-pennicillamine td - 250 mg.I have been taking this since 2000.in recent day i am frequently disturbed by bloating and mild chest pain and persistant dicomfort in the chest area.i may be clarified what is the reason and any relation between my ailment and chest discomfort Please.

Thanks for your comment.from the response i can understand u r knowledge about wilsons disease and d-pennicillamine.my doctor is telling that this the only drug which is clinically proved and advice to continue the same.if you have any strong proof for other chelating agents like zinc molybtate kindly reply.

d-pennicillamine is very hard on the body. That you've been taking it for 8 years is quite a feat. I would ask your doctor if you could go on one of the other two chelating medications. Or, since you've been on d-penn for 8 years, you should be in a maintenance phase; the only thing you should have to take should be zinc acetate-chelating, which can be found/bought at a community pharmacy. I'd discuss these options with your doctor.
