stickiness, discomfort in a throat

For 5 weeks now I have been experiencing discomfort, stickiness in my throat and esophagus. It feels like a pill gets dissolved in my throat, something moving and turning there, or the food is stuck. Sometimes it is accompanied by nausea. After I eat I have a feeling that the food is still moving down the esophagus. This feeling is awful, it lasts all day, I am losing my ability to think. Few days ago I had severe chest pain, figured it was esophageal spasm, for a few days after that I had a pain when burping.  2 months ago I had an upper endoscopy done together with colonoscopy (routine – I have IBS and also small polyp was removed 4  years ago) It showed I have H-pylori, floppy upper stomach and that’s it. I am at a loss how to help myself, start to think I have something horrible. Please HELP!

Ellie, the sensation you're describing is called 'globus.' It's due to the irritation to the lower esophageal sphincter area of the esophagus although the discomfort is felt in the throat. You need to get the H. pylori cleared up and then your doc will probably put you on a course of proton pump inhibitor meds. He/she should also suggest you follow a GERD-friendly diet and make some lifestyle changes. You can find food suggestions at gicare.com.

Thank you very much for your response.  I went to GI yesterday, she gave me prescription for H-Pylori and pentaloc (for acid reflux). But I only can start H-Pylori treatment after I stop nursing.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  I would recommend asking for a barium swallow or an upper gi series.  Also you should see a GI doctor if you haven't done so yet.  Good luck.
