swollen stomach

Hi...Yes "A" Gall Bladder question.  I had mine removed back in 10/07.   I had gone to the doctor that morning & by that night I was in the operating room.  When I went for my post-op appt. I had told the surgeon that something didn't feel quite right on the right side below my rib cage,  he told me everything was fine, (he didn't do anything after the surgery but listened with a stethoscope) so I went on my merry way.  But, since the surgery my whole stomach area seems to be swollen.  I still feel these twinges on my right side (my pain tolerance is very high)  Every time I bend down from the waist it feels so solid.  I've decided to fast for the next 2 days to see if the swelling will go down, even my shirts seem tighter!  I'm a very active person, watch what I eat and even started drinking more water to see if this will resolve itself.  I value my time & don't want to spin my wheels getting nowhere, my question to you is...should I see a doctor, if so what tests should be done?    People have even remarked that my stomach is distended.

Well, I know who did the operation, in fact it was so late at night I had asked him if we should wait till morning, he said no.  I live in a small community & I insisted on meeting the nurse & anesthesiologist, because honestly those where the only people there.  But, I just feel there is something there.  I've been deligent about what I eat, but my stomach looks more distended, in fact the shirt I have on today seem tighter than it did last week.  Thanks so much for telling me about the surgical clips!!!!!!!!!!!  It makes sense, because when I "did" my floor exercise's it seemed to really feel uncomfortable, so I can't do them anymore.  Now I just have to find a doctor that will listen to me.... thanks so much again....I would have never known

After my gallbladder surgery 2 months ago my stomach was very distended. It still is. I went back with major pains one week after surgery and the ultrasound tech couldn't believe how distended my stomach was. I wound up with another operation. I can tell you that after alot of research and many nights on the computer I found out that during the operation they use surgical clips. I believe the problem stems from these clips. They say they are not harmful but after my first surgery the pain was terrible so I went for a cat scan and there was a surgical clip in my pelvis. I believe the doctor went in - took it out and acted as though nothing was wrong with me and he found nothing wrong with me. Now to my understanding they use 4 clips. My cat scan shows 2 in the upper quadrent and one in my pelvis - where is the other one. I would look into this. You may have a floating clip causing the pain. Maybe you even have a reaction to this. The doctors will say they are not dangerous and can do you no harm but that is simply not true. When I came out of the second surgery I felt a lot better. The only way I can see if he removed the clip is to have another cat scan or ulta sound. You have to type into google - dropped surgical clips or something simular to it. Good luck. That is my guess and they hide these things and we all suffer from their mistakes. Honestly you can never say who even operated on you - It could have been a training intern, That is so wrong.
