Is it stress or something worse?

Back in February I woke up and realized my bowel movements were out of sorts. I was either not having any movements or small ones. I went to the doctor who diagnosed me with Diverticulitis. The next day I went back into the doctor because I was feeling worse. I was sent in for a CT scan of my plumbing which found no problems. I was doing good until this last Friday the 23rd, I started having a great deal of gas and then either couldn't have a movement or the movements were small. This has been the trend for about a week now. I have tried prune juice, a super anti-oxidant drink and I have gotten some crap out (no pun intended). I hae had really horrible gas for the last couple of days but not as bad as what I experienced during the weekend of the 24th. Now a note, my wife gave birth on the 25th and her and everyone else has told me that there is probably nothing to worry about, it'll continue to stay bad or get worse if I obsess over it. The movements I have had since the prune juice have been in several pieces but at the same time not Diarrhea. I don't know what to do. Does it sound like stress? Is all of the gas preventing a solid one or two piece stoll from forming? I just want a normal damn day in my life where I don't have to worry about my bowels. Any input or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

I agree with patient915 here. And yes, lots of gas can delay the bowel movements. If the suggestion above do not work, I suggest to go to a dietician and make a lactulose and a fructose breath test, to see if stray bacteria might be the source of the gas.
By the way, it is completely okay to not have a BM a day. Even as little as once a week is still okay, but longer is definitely  something to worry about.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  It sounds like you might be constipated.  You could also have IBS, which can be worsened by stress.  Have you tried a high fiber diet, drinking lots of water, and getting plenty of exercise?
