Headaches, dizzyness, head rushes??????

My husband is 35 years old. He is overweight, quite over weight. Lately he has been having headaches. He say when he stands up he feels dizzy. He kind of blacks out for a moment, like a headrush, ya know where you see stars. He refuses to go to the doc, he is soooo hardheaded. I have never heard of anything like this, anyone else?? Thanks, Leslie.

It sounds like he may have high blood pressure. If he absolutely refuses to see the Dr have him go to Walgreens or Walmart and check his BP. Or you can buy a home BP machine. He should be sitting still and quiet for at least 5 minutes before he takes a reading. Normal BP is 120/80 highest to 90/60 lowest. If his numbers are above 120/80 make him see a Dr right away.
Is he having the headaches at any time, or just when he stands up? If he does have high BP he can be treated. Left untreated it can lead to heart attack or stroke.
My husband is like yours by the way, very hard headed. We've had the same Dr for years and I had him go with me for my checkup. I mentioned a couple of things that were going on with my husband and the next thing you know he was getting a checkup. Me and our Dr were not letting him get out of it!
Try to get your husband to see the Dr or at the very least get his BP checked. Keep us up to date.  Remar
