What could be causing stiffness in my heel???

So we've all been there where we've worn shoes that dug into our heels and left a scrape or a cut. But a few days ago I wore flats to an interview, and of course it hurt my heel and the skin was only red. The next day the red skin turned into more of cut. Then the day after that I woke up from a nap and my the back of foot was extremely stiff. I could barely move my foot, which is a little concerning since earlier that day it was fine. I also noticed a little bit of swelling under the ankle. I'm just curious as to what could be causing this.
