Visual feeling of being underwater at work on nightshift?!

Over the last few months I've experienced bright spots in front of my eyes after around 20 mins of VDU/PC usage, like a very mild similarity to briefly looking at the sun maybe.
I work in a factory environment, within Engineering, and my place of work have recently change the old fluorescent strip lights for new energy saving ones which give off a peculiar dimmer kind of light.

I've noticed the bright spots occur more frequently when I work on the nightshift,  (1 week in every 4).
Coupled with this problem, when I walk onto the main factor shop floor, from my smaller workshop base area, I get a bizarre experience of what I can only describe as my vision feeling like being underwater!?

This phenomenon only happens on my nightshift not on my other shifts. I was thinking it was a cocktail of the lack of any natural daylight, energy saving lighting, bright VDUs and feeling a little more tired than usual. I get no associated pain with this, but am concerned about the temporary blurry vision in undertaking my line of work which can sometimes need to be detailed and precise.
I'm 43, in good health, 85kg non smoker. I'm near (short) sighted approx -2.50 in both eyes with an astigmatism in one eye.
Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated. Thankyou
