Flu symptoms

I am a 38 year old male that has a flu, started medication from the doctor whom prescribed me PHENOXYMETHYLPENICILLIN.  But have recently started to feel that I have a pain in head towards the lower back of my head and lower back.
Should I be worried? It is affecting how I walk as it makes me feel quite weak.

Suspected meningitis would be ruled out with testing the cerebral spinal fluid through a spinal tap procedure. You would have most certainly been hospitalized for careful monitoring and not just sent home with antibiotics. Meningitis is a fast progressing infection in the lining of the brain and spinal cord.
You can monitor yourself for lung infection. Fever, chills, worsening cough, wheezing, and shortness of breath. Overall body aches can be severe with the flu and can last up to a week or more. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms then go to the ER not the doctor's office. Make sure to don a mask so you do not spead the virus. Feel better soon!

Hi again,
I was just reading more about why the doctor may have prescribed penicillinV for you when you have "the flu." If he suspected meningitis they will give you penicillin to start with and then if you present with more symptoms such as rash, or stiff neck, light phobia, bad headache in the back of the neck and so forth then you should call the doctor that prescribed the drug or go the ER if he isn't in. See below:
Initial treatmentMeningitis is potentially life-threatening and has a high mortality rate if untreateddelay in treatment has been associated with a poorer outcome. Thus treatment with wide-spectrum antibiotics should not be delayed while confirmatory tests are being conducted. If meningococcal disease is suspected in primary care, guidelines recommend that benzylpenicillin be administered before transfer to hospital. Intravenous fluids should be administered if hypotension (low blood pressure) or shock are present. Given that meningitis can cause a number of early severe complications, regular medical review is recommended to identify these complications early,as well as admission to an intensive care unit if deemed necessary

Hi and sorry you are ill. Do you know if the doctor may have given you the antibiotic for a secondary infection? Yes it shouldn't be given for the flu alone But, do you have a bad cough? Can you touch your chin to your chest? It is not unsual to have a headaches, body aches or weaknes from the flu but you have pain in the back of the head and back and this is unusual and could be meningitis as a secondary infection. If you want to err on the side of caution you can go to the ER and have them check you out to be sure. I would have someone drive you.

The flu is a virus and should NEVER be treated with antibiotics. Viruses do not respond to antibiotics. Unfortunately many doctors have overprescribed antibiotics and this has caused antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria, otherwise known as superbugs. It is not uncommon to experience severe body aches and weakness with the viral flu. In fact, this is the common indicator that you have a virus and not a bacterial infection. Make sure to take lots of fluids and get plenty of rest. Use tylenol to manage fever and pain. Well wishes being sent your way.
