At 1am this morning I noticed that my cats were sniffing at a bat that entered the house. The poor bat was trying to crawl/fly away and finally did. As it was flying circle in the living room, I was trying to catch it in a bag. It ran into the back of my head quickly then flew away. I finally caught it when it flew into the spinning ceiling fan twice and it fell on the floor. I picked it up through the bag and took it outside. It seemed a little stunned but then flew away after a minute or so. There are no visible scratches on my head and I didn't feel anything except for the "thump" as it hit. It seemed pretty normal, flying normally and hanging on the ceiling. I checked my county's information and this year they have found 4 rapid bats. I don't have insurance at the moment and cannot easily cover the cost of a rabies treatment. Should I just suck it up, find the money and get treated?
