I would be upset if I were you. I don't know much about medical procedure and laws, but I know how I've been treated, and that's not the experiences I've had!
First, did he sterelize the area, and did he do the procedure with gloves? I would be worried about getting an infection from his hands! The tools were steril, but not necessarily him!
Second, you deffinately have a right to know what's going on with your body. The doctor should have told you what he thinks it is and what he planned on doing before he ever touched you. Its YOUR body, not his, and you should have some say in what happens. I know if this were me, I would have been upset that he didn't explain this to me or give me the chance to say no to what he was doing.
Third, this is technically a breach of personal choice. Doctors don't get to make choices for the patient unless they're unconcious or mentally incompitent. Doctors are supposed to diagnose you, give you the diagnosis, and discuss a treatment plan that you can either consent to or decline. Even though this was minor and caught early, he still should have checked with you. He should have offered to numb it, or given you at least the option to ask questions so you can see if you can be numbed in that area. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't.
I've been treated in hospitals many times. Never, ever have i had an experience like this. I get unexplained sores all over my body. When they get infected, I have to go to the doctor for treatment. The first time I have this done, my doctor explained everything to me and asked me what I wanted to do. I can't be numbed, but she can use a warm compress which helps with some of the pain. The same thing goes for when I've had my surgeries or just gone in for check-ups. This is deffinately not what I would consider normal.
Yeah man I agree with gym! He did the right thing but it is pretty messed up not to tell you first. Maybe he was having a bad day! Still no reason to be a D*** to you. I wouldn't go back.
Boils can be lanced in a doctors office! I am surprised that he didn't give you a
shot before he lanced it! You have to understand that boils can cause big problems. But that's not an excuse for not telling you what he was going to do
and not giving you a shot.
