I am a healthy 18 year old female, and I was laying in bed one morning when I went to turn over onto my left side when I got a sudden, severe burst of pain shooting down from my knee to my foot. My whole leg locked up and I was unable to move that leg. Every time I tried to move it even a milimetre I would scream in agonizing pain. I have a pretty decent pain tolerance but this was unbareable.
I had to call in to work as the pain went on for over 2 hours straight. I could not get out of bed to go to the washroom or go downstairs, let alone drive myself to the hospital if the pain persisted. Finally, I was able to sit up and slowly and painfully get my legs off the side of the bed.
The pain felt like a huge muscle spasm that continued for hours. What could this have been? Should I be worried or was it most likely a severe charley horse or pinched nerve?
