Thigh Ache

What causes my thighs to ache when I walk, run on the treadmill and at rest?  I also have tingling in my big toes when I walk down the stairs.  It's a dull ache in my thighs only.  The tingling in both toes only and only when I'm walking down the stairs.  Thanks.

Thank you for the information I do have small vessel spasms in my coronary arteries without the disease.  I do take L-Arginine I guess not enough.  I wish I could take a calcium channel blocker but I can't it reduces my blood pressure to the point where I'm on the verge of passing out.  Thanks.

The most likely cause is vascular insufficiency, usually secondary to a narrowing of the internal diameter of the blood vessels. Diagnosis is usually by a color dopplar, which is inexpensive and non-invasive. There are several possible etiologies. In some cases slight oxygen deficiency causes lactic acid build-up because of anaerobic metabolism, which causes the pain. The heart medication Lisonopril is sometimes prescribed because it relaxes the blood vessels, as does slow-release niacin and omega-three fish oils. I wouldn't worry too much, but I would get a vascular consult.
