areola color change, itchy, small lump and hurts

hello I have noticed that in my areola and a little under I have a little lump, color change (pink/red), itchy and hurts a little. I'm scared because my young mother got ductal carcinoma and had a double mastectomy. ?????

Please go have that checked out really since your mom had Breast problems they can catch stuff early dont be scared i know its hard but have it checked out

Hello Sorry to hear about what your mother has had to go through.  Any changes with the breast/body involving unusual knots needs to be investigated by your doctor, especially with a family history of breast cancer.  It could be an infected/inflammed mammary gland that may merely require antibiotic treatment.  Only visualization and/or testing by your doctor can determine the cause and necessary treatment.
