When blood shows up in your stool there is an endless array of potential reasons that it can happen. There are some key things to look at:

1- Is the blood dark or bright. Usually normal colored or 'bright' blood comes from Anal fissures (tiny little crack or abrasion in your rectum) or hemmorhoids. Darker blood usually is a sign that the blood has been in the digestive tract for a while which means it may have came from higher up such as colon, stomach, or intestines.

2- How MUCH blood is appearing? It is normal to see red blood here and there and kinda spotty throughout and/or on the toilet paper. This can come from a large stool that causes a slight tear (even microscopic tears can produce blood), or from a hemmoroid that can come from you straining hard to pass a stool (straining can be from any number of times you defecated previous as well, not JUST that particular time). Or is it like CUPS of blood? If it is like cups of blood (not just tinting the toilet water a different color but impacting the color of the water heavily or being EVERYWHERE, a lot of excess blood) I would get into a doctor immediately.

3- Are you having any other symptoms? Usually there are other sypmtoms that accompany things that deal with this type of thing...Is anything else concerning you symptomatically?

It depends... Are there any other symptoms? And when you say 'use the bathroom' are you referring to Blood in urine, or blood in stool?

You do not say where you bleed from.

Is it from your penis?
Is it from your anal passage?

Either way if you are bleeding a lot you should be seeing your doctor as soon as possible to get it investigated.  It is not normal to bleed a lot from any orifice.

Best wishes.
