four year old hasn't peed in 26 hrs. Only had about 500 mls today to drink.

my four year old daughter's doctor isn't worried that she hasn't eaten in three days and hasn't urinated in now 26 hours.
She's on a cough suppressant and now zithromax for an apparent bacterial infection.  She's only had about 500 mls of juice today but hasn't peed.  Should i take her to the hospital?

Due to the infection she is now dehydrated! Get her some pedialyte or the pedialyte Popsicles for hydration! Jello rice and toast she should be fine in a day or 2 after starting the antibiotics. Is she complaining like she is in pain down there? Like she wants to pee but can't?

Hi there, I am a mother of 2 myself and yes I do believe that you should take her to the ER. When my kids were sick they were always concerned about how much they were urinating. I think they were concerned about dehydration. I dont feel that 500 mls is enough to keep a person hydrated and I also do not feel that it is normal for someone to go without urinating for 26 hours. I think you should take her to the ER, maybe they will give her some IV fluids and maybe its the lack of fluids that shes not urinating. I am not a doctor and this is just my opinion. All I know that my doctor always thought it was a big deal that my children were not drinking anything when they were ill because I think its very easy for a child or for anyone for that matter to become dehydrated easily. Good luck...
