Olecranon Fracture - Hardware Moved?

Hello,
I had tension band pins and wires inserted on the 23rd December 15 after breaking my elbow. The last x-Ray I had was on the 6th January 16, when my stitches were removed. I had another appointment in Feb to check range of movement, but they didn't repeat x-Ray. At my latest check up appointment yesterday, I was told that the hardware had moved (one pin had shifted backwards out of the bone) and therefore needed to come out. I must admit I felt any questions I had were rather brushed off, and I wasn't left with much information, so I would like to ask -
What would cause that sort of shift in metal work? I have had pain and some swelling over the last few days, but haven't done anything at all out of the ordinary or felt anything to trigger this - could this pin have just suddenly moved without me noticing/feeling pain until afterwards, or would it have been a gradual shift?
Feeling very fed up so any information would be much appreciated.
