smelling things that noone else can smell

Been smelling things like cigar smoke men's cologne but its more the smoke n its all day been smelling it since I been sick with enlarged liver n spleen and last 2 month it has gotten worse I smell it all day its driving me crazy also been have ocular zig zags red white and blue about 5 times in a month so doc sent me for eeg. Idk maybe another money pit or could it be my schzoaffective? Which the smell just started about yr ago any help plz

No eeg will show schzoaffective but I believe schzo  will show on eeg I have schzo and bipolar so that means I am schzoaffective i believe meds are. Working  still smell things but not that bad anymore wonder if anxiety stress etc cause me to smell things cause I have never smelled anything b4 until I got sick 1 yr ago with enlarged liver n spleen I was so worried about. Does the positive EEG show up with schzoaffective disorder? If so I didn't know that. I hope this new drug helps with the symptoms.

Just found out today that mri is Normal and he said its Mental its my schzoaffective disorder I got put on lutuda 40mg was taking off Saphris 20mg

Yes I don't know what the specific details of the EEG mean. There are a variety of things they can find out, seizure and migraine are two and tumors. They can see sleep disorders if you are sleeping and so forth. They are probably doing a MRI to rule out tumor. I hope the MRI is normal.
I had to rule on a brain tumor recently too. Luckily for me it was negative. But your symptoms do sound like a type of seizure.I hope they can get you on the right meds. Do let us know how it comes ok?

The eeg was abnormal it says there is a small Sharp wave and phase reversal Sharp wave seen in the left midtemporal area there is some intermittent mild focal slowing which is seen from the bitemporal area andmaybe a isolated Sharp wave there is also some artifical muscle movement this is a abnormal study due to the presence of a isolated small Sharp wave which is seen mostly from the left temporal area with some biteporal slowing this could represent an area of focus of epiletiform discharges I really don't understand it

I so sorry that the test was abnormal. Was it the EEG that was abnormal?THe MRI may just be to rule out a problem. They did that to me to a couple of times. I hope it is negative. Let me know how it goes.

This happened to me recently I thought it was environmental allergies , I smelt smoke for about 3 weeks, I got a nasal spray called Lee nasal spray its supposed to clear congestion, well the smell has gone ..I do know that I have also had sinus problems , sore eyes, upset stomach, Head aches..and  yes I do blame the aerial spraying that is being done ...check out   on google 'What on earth are they Spraying"

Stress or anxiety can cause you to have a seizure, migraine variant etc. I often have visuals and no migraine headache with my migraines. So, i'm haivng to go on Amitryptiline because I have bad vertigo from my migraine variant that causes many visual problems and vertigo. Let me know how your EEG goes. Mine was positive for migraine seizure pattern but they said I had a migraine variant and I was throwing up all night and stomach pain with no headaches and no aura. Now it has switched to almost all auras, or double vision, lights that fly in my vision and once the vision was blacked out in 1/3 of my right eye. My migraines are triggered by stress, excitement, flashing lights, and MSG, Red wine etc. I am thinking it is possible you have something like this going on. The smelling a weird odor can be a sign of a petit mal (simple) seizure. Hope you can get it figured out.

Some types of seizures can make you smell funny odors. Look up partial seizures and see if this fits your symptoms. I would see a neurologist.
Was your EEG normal? Are the smells there without having the object such as the cigar present? You may also want to rule out eye problems. But I think I would start with the neurologist if you haven't seen one yet.

I have been smelling an unusual odor for about a year or so as well
it is unlike anything that I can describe moreover no one else can smell it either so I share your problem so you are not the only one an now neither am I.
