tinitus

Does anyone know the success rate for a lidocaine injection in the ear to treat tinnitus. Are the effects short or long term. Are there side effects. Can this damage the eardrum or hearing?

i read some where they have found a cure for tinitus  just dont beleve it , i have bought myself a mp player play it on a night the music helps one to get off to sleep aqnd drowns out the tinitus noise , i am 70 years of age and was in an orphanage from the age of 18months up to the age of 6 , the nuns used to clean our ears every friday with a stupid thing as an hair clip and this caused both my ears to be perforated , the doc said when i was 15 year old they were old perforations which caused me to get tinnitus , i have had it all my life , so one had to learn to live with this clangging of pans and ringing in my ears , i fined if i take an headache tablet this makes it worse , and now i am talking about it , it has drawn my attention to the noise errrrrrrrrrrrr. try not to listen for it , do not even thing or talk about it other wise it will get louder , play some soft gentle music on a night because the silence makes it worse , hope it will help you , some medication effects the tinnitus and makes it worse

Lidocaine is a well known anaesthetic with a long established safety history and many uses. In injectable form the medication has a relatively short half-life. It may not cure the tinnitis, but an injection will not harm you.
