Please excuse my ignorance - what is BV?
BV is associated WITH sexual activity, but there is NO evidence this is transmitted sexually. So, there is NO evidence at this time stating that partners should be treated too. The sexual activity upsets one's normal vaginal flora thus causing this infection.
so, if BV is considered an STD how come when women get it after sex....their partners dont get treated for it also? like i had BV for the first time ever in June and my gyno told me that it was not an STD and that it is the most common vaginal infection women get. Now, I have seen that it is considered an STD im so confused. My bf & I have been tested for all STDS, but if BV is considered one should my bf have been treated for it also? So, what is it...
infections do not always simply fall into one classification, you can get a yeast infection in a variety of ways as you said, so yes some yeast infections are STi's but others are not.
STD was considered non-policitcally correct a few years back and that's why STi' has been favoured as a term, but they are basically the same thing.
They mean the same thing: Sexually Transmitted Disease and Sexually Transmitted Infection. I know that BV is considered an STI, not yeast infections.
