10 years

10 years ago I met my husband.  Shortly after he went for a 3rd in a series HIV test, which was negative to my knowledge -- he says today that yes, all the tests were negative.

Within the last 2 years he's had medical problem after medical problem.  It all started with a strange shaking in his limbs and head.  He's had a numb head, vertigo, temporary paralysis from mid-thigh down, followed by intense pain when he could feel his legs again which cleared up with antibiotics given for what we thought was a staph infection on his skin after some random scratches just appeared on his leg.  Most recently he got cryotpsporidium in his colon presenting with abdominal pain and cramps and diarrhea -- which he seems to have all the time now (the dr blames the crypto on some fruit hubby ate), and for the last 4 days has been extremely short of breath. Xrays are normal.  Lungs sound clear.  With all the hospital visits, vial after vial of blood has been drawn for (inconclusive) tests, since they still have no answers as to what is causing all his trouble.

When we first met, and for about 3 yeas after, he was extremely susxeptible to colds and the flu which we blamed on his cronic asthma and allergies, but now I wonder.  I, however, am -rarely- sick.

His GP is sending him to a pulminary dr, who asked that he get an HIV test.  (this would be his second in 2 years as they gave him one on the first visit to the hispital back when the shaking started)  So far... I think this will be 5 tests, and to my knowledge none of them have come back positive.

Does this sound like... it could be HIV?  Even after 10 years and so many blood tests of various natures?
