Yes, I would be very surprised if a licensed doctor suggested that you continue testing out to 7 years to determine your HIV status. My feeling is that you misunderstood what he was saying. If you are sure that you heard him correctly, my advice would be to find another doctor, and quickly.
Not all doctors, as surprising as it may seem, are up to date with their HIV knowledge. We may see evidence of that in this forum, where posts do occur with some frequency, originated by those given bum advice by their doctors. It is disconcerting, to say the least.
He's probably confusing it with an estimate for the average time it takes before you become symtomatic with HIV.
I've told you man.....third world......I believe that doc is not even licensed or his just a very stupid one. Have you learned anything about HIV? If you had, u should know that's BS.
Then I would suggest you find a real doctor.
I'm not spreading lies this is what the doctor told me...I'm from Asia more specifically Singapore!
stopping spreading lies; there is not one would take that long? Which world do you live in?
Yes you should gt annual test if you are having different sex partners over the years but if you are only having unprotected sex with one partner and both of you test after three months of sexual activity then you will only need one test and thats it. Rememeber if you decided to have another sexual partner whose sexual history you don't know and its unprotected sex then yes you have to test again after three months after starting that sexual relationship. Hope this helps.
Not the case.
3 months post exposure or post PEP.
Only reason they would have you follow up - and not even for that length of time - is not for medical reasons but to to keep check on high risk behaviours.
If someone has high risk behaviours or muslitple partners they should be getting at least annual full STI (including HIV) checks anyaway.
MOT......are you serious my man?! do u live in Uganda or....3 world countries....what kinda doc is that? Is he licensed ????
