reliability of hiv testing equipments....

I have a unprotected sex with a sex worker, i have tested 5 weeks and 9 weeks via hiv 1/2 rapid test @ a diagnostic clinic, im from the Philippines and i really have doubts on the testing equipments used, noting that after my 4th week and 8th week rapid test, until now i have a slight fever with slight headache and arm rash...... today i have my 13 weeks rapid test same hiv testing equipment and should be out after 1 hour...... what is the accuracy of a hiv rapid test?...does all hiv rapid test have same accuracy as elisa test?.... can i really on my hiv rapid test @ 13th week to be conclusive with my symptoms of i have?.... hiv antibody rapid test here in philippines and all over the world have same accuracy? thanx.. for response...

He was saying that if you were a chemotherapy patient,a transplant patient on meds or a chronic iv drug user then it may take longer to produce detectable antibodies.This does not apply to you,so you test result is conclusive.

Your negative test result is 100% conclusive.You don,t have hiv and you need to forget all about this and get on with life.All the best.

1. it means that my hiv test result @ 13 weeks , is very very conclusive and will not change..... I am a true hiv negative... is that right

2. and any symptoms i have now will rule out with my negative result....

The Multispot test is a single-use rapid test that detects and differentiates circulating antibodies to HIV types 1 and 2 in fresh or frozen human serum and plasma. It has been approved by FDA to differentiate HIV-1 from HIV-2 antibodies.
As long as you don't have the conditions Ricky mentioned, your result will remain negative from that exposure, you don't need to continue testing. You don't have HIV

Only if the tested is either on chemotherapy, on meds post-transplant and/or a heavy IV drug user could that be possible.

have u ever seen a case that test @ 12 weeks with hiv rapid test with negative result.... became positive @ 6 months.... thanx

it was hiv 1/2 multi rapid antibody .... and im from the philippines Hope242.... is that test approved...

Here in the US the CDC updated the conclusive window period to 3 months post exposure back in 2004. So the 6 month window period is outdated. The FDA as well as the test manufactures say 3 months for a conclusive result. I'm not sure what test you took, but I'm sure that the clinic would have an approved test. You can trust your result.

thanx for your response hope242,.... here in the philippines testing clinic and laboratory says that 6 months is a conclusive test... why still using this guidelines... or its just the testing equipments?

Yes your test is accurate, reliable and conclusive. You don't have HIV
