am i exposed to risk?

hi all,

myself robin studying final year MBA.

I have few questions.

1. can a solid needle which has flesh hiv infected  blood on it (60 seconds older) can
transmitt hiv if it pricks my hand. i got a wound which was almost half inch deeper
to my hand and i did not remove that needle for 2 minutes as i was screaming for help.

2. how long virus (approx. 3 drops of blood high viral load)  will survive on solid needle exposed to air.

can i say 60 seconds?

recently 5 days ago i prickd accidently with the solid needle to my hand and started bleeding.

it belongs to my cousin brother who recently had exposure (8 weeks back-yet to test)

am @ risk. please help me doctors.

You were never injected with any needle and if you were pricked it's zero risk for Hiv.

Sir

I just wnated to make sure that blood which was there on solid needle had never come in contact with my blood stream. and did not entered in to my stream through cut which done by that prick.

since my wound was also fresh any chance of injecting that in to veins through solid needle?

even i bleeded after that prick thats why am scared. i am sure it was exposed to air for a min.

entering blood stream means only through veins by injecting or like above also?

Need your answers sir please. I dont ask again and again.. i swear.

1.I don,t understand your first question fully but the only risk is if someone directly injected blood into your veins with a needle/syringe. 2.That's true.

If you live a healthy lifesytle and take your medication Hiv is not a deadly disease at all.The above answerers have been trying to tell you that Hiv becomes inactive as soon as it is exposed to air,so your not telling us anything new.Except the facts please and by doing so that's how you will help other posters in your situation.

HI All

thnaks for the answer you made my life easier.

Just one doubt related to my situation. i know it's too much. but these things are to make myself cool and get back to my life.

@all experts:

1. in fresh wet infected HIV blood which is there in human hand or environmental surface for 60 seconds, it's TRUE that all the viruses will become INACTIVE and UNABLE to infect even if the same blood comes in contact with MUCUOS MEMBRANE, FRESH CUT and WOUND which is bleeding and injected to blood stream by needle??

2.Viruses once become INACTIVE can never be ACTIVE.

Please dont ban me and i am just curious to know and it will be helpful for others also who are going through this site and having same exposure.

Hope you undrestand our situation. Since it's deadliest disease, everyone wants to have ZERO risk. :(

Hope i will get answer for my above question.

The HIV virus is very fragile and is deactivated almost immediately (within seconds) of leaving its host (the human body).  It does not reproduce once outside its living host which is why environmental tranmission, solid needles, hands, door knobs, toilet seats ertc... will not cause tranmission.  It is impossible.

Thanks :)

little curious to know this. Kindly answer me.

if same infected blood is there on someone's hand which is intact without cut and wound , (or fingers or surface of hand or palm) will it re produce or

it's as same as solid needle surface where it will become INACTIVE within seconds.

want to know how virus behaves on organic surface.

Kinldy answer my question..

To directly answer you original questions:

1. NO
2. Seconds

Solid needles do not transmit HIV.  The virus does not survive on them.

agree sir all my answers are repeartative.

but i just want your confirmation that whatever i told in the above

anxiety, stress are also contributing to screw my life. so please reply this time.

You never had a risk and repeating what you have been told is a waste of time. Reread the replies you have been given.

Thanks for the comments doctor.

so it's sure that in infected blood (say 3 drops) virus can not live for more that one min and

became INACTIVE and unable to infect even if it comes in contact with blood, mucous membrane or any where and how long needle was inside the wound will not matter if virus in INACTIVE.

infected blood outside the human body cannot transfer disease unless it's there inside the vaccum which will be there in syringes.

please confirm me the above things as it would help others also who are viewing this page. help all of us understand this

The Hiv virus becomes inactive as soon as it is exposed to air. This is why you had NO risk. You do not require any testing.

HI all/Teak/getitright

thanks for the response.

but i saw blood on the solid needle and pricked into. dont that flesh blood come in contact with mine.

it was hardly 60 seconds older(approx 2 drops of blood).

you people sure that virus became INACTIVE in 60 sec. needle was there inside me for 2 min.

need some proper explanation on how am SAFE and no hiv concerns.

so can i confirm that blood on the solid needle can never transfer virus through wounds and cuts?

do i need to wait for 3 months for testing. I never had any sexual exposure.

As soon as HIV becomes exposed to the air it dies. Thats why hollow point needles transmit it-the blood hides in the hollow part. A solid needle wont.

Teak,

could you answer my above questions pls

since he was already exposed and fresh blood was visible and even i bleeded after pricking, will it not transfer?
you are saying it was INACTIVE as soon it exposed and even if it was hiv infected blood and came in contact with my wound i dont have any risk?

can u help me on my second question also on how long it takes to become INACTIVE (3 drops) on needle surface?

i am very much concerned and almost dead from that day :(
