Beauty salon.

Hello.

Although my unpotected sex concerns belong to the past, I have recently become extremely distressed about another risky event I went through.

I underwent a procedure to remove my acne spots in a beauty salon, downtown Moscow, Russia. The procedure obviously involved piercing the pimples with an instrument. When pierced, the pimples bleed.

The salon seems good, in a highly prestigious area, it is licensed (I saw the documents but have no clue whether or not they are falsified). There is nothing seemingly unclean about the place, although there are very few clients and it's a bit dark. The doctors are supposed to be competent.

I failed to ask them what their sterilization method is. I will drop by tomorrow and ask them, but right now I am worrying sick and can't sleep. I also read those sad stories about the doctor in Oklahoma and the acupuncture salon in Switzerland, both of which fueled my distress.

Is it possible that I got HIV from unsterilized instruments through such a procedure ?

Yes that is what Doctor Hook anwered as well. Thank you very much.

When I went there I did not expect them to do that, so I did not inquire about the sterilization methods in use. If took me off guard quite bit.

The procedure involved piercing the spots with a lancet or any kind of pointed instrument (I did not see it very well), so as to let the pus out (sorry). As such it involves bleeding.

Some people seem to be worried about hygiene whit respect to piercing ears etc. so I was afraid such procedure would expose me to a similar risk, seeing as it involved piercing skin, bleeding etc.

Without knowing what exact procedure you had done and what kind of equipment is used, I couldn't say for sure, but most likely, there is little to no risk.  These kinds of fears are typically irrational and anxiety-fueled.  You will have to refer to the clinic for more information.
