I've been trying to research HIV, been on lots of websites etc. So is it safe to assume that as soon as the hiv virus comes into contact with air, then it cannot be transmitted outside of the host? The other day I was buying a magazine and the lady serving me got a papercut on her finger from it, and like less than 30 seconds after she handed it to me, I got a papercut from the same edge. Is there any chance of transmission here, assuming she was HIV+? As the magazine edge broke both her skin and my skin, so if there was blood from her to me on the edge of the magazine, could I catch HIV? Or is a papercut not deep enough for anything to enter the bloodstream? Because I have also read that nobody can catch anything with a papercut, yet on other sites I have read that you can catch it through cuts and abrasions? Thankyou in advance for answering, I just really need to know so I can try and understand better.
